DataCenterAndColocation Selected By Mitchell International for Colocation Consulting Services
Mitchell International Relocates Data Centers
DataCenterAndColocation, a San Diego based colocation consulting firm, was selected to represent Mitchell International in its search for colocation space. Erez Nir, CTO of Mitchell International said “we sought a partner to support us in this process, as the integrity and security of our data is critical for our customers. After interviewing several firms to identify the best resource to handle our complex requirements and aggressive schedule, we selected DataCenterAndColocation because of their professional background in the field and vast experience in both data centers and data networking. They possessed a great understanding of the national colocation market and had strong negotiating skills”.
Mitchell International, a provider of technology and information services to Property and Casualty (P&C) insurers and the Collision Repair industry in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, moved its corporate offices in 2011 to a new location in San Diego, California. During the planning phase of this move, a decision was made to move the existing in-house data center operations to a colocation facility.
The first task was to identify and select a site prior to the corporate office move. DataCenterAndColocation analyzed the requirements covering space, power, cooling, data connectivity, infrastructure redundancies, security and geographical preferences. A comprehensive Request for Proposal (RFP) was created on behalf of Mitchell International and distributed to a list of well-established data center providers with strong financial background and proven operational experience. A detailed comparative analysis of the responses received from pre-qualified data center providers was performed by a combined team from Mitchell International and DataCenterAndColocation. At the end of a comprehensive selection process, a Dallas area site was selected. Following the selection, a Master Services Agreement was negotiated and executed, followed with the construction, testing and migration of the existing datacenter to the newly selected site with no disruption to Mitchell’s clients.
After the successful completion of the first project, DataCenterAndColocation was retained to identify a second colocation site, this time closer to Mitchell’s new corporate offices in San Diego, for a secondary site. A San Diego site was identified and selected; a Master Service Agreement was negotiated and executed in record time, to allow a speedy move-in. This second colocation contract negotiated by DataCenterAndColocation on behalf of Mitchell International was one of the largest contracts signed in the San Diego area in the past several years.
Mitchell’s Senior Director of Operations, John Pontarolo said, “John Giaquinta, President of DataCenterAndColocation, attended all of our planning and strategy meetings throughout the process and did an outstanding job of representing our company during the process. Following the initial engagement success we selected DataCenterAndColocation again to represent us for in additional projects in other geographies with great results”.
